Our Rabbi
Rabbi Aaron Cohen learned in Kerem B’Yavneh, Har Etzion, RIETS, Mesivta Tiferes Yerushalayim (MTJ), and the Mir. Rabbi Cohen graduated from Yeshiva University in 1987 with a degree in economics. Rabbi Cohen also received graduate degrees in medieval Jewish history from the Bernard Revel Graduate School in 1993, in School Psychology from City University in 1995, and from Wurzweiler School of Social Work in 2016. Rabbi Cohen was ordained with his Semicha from RIETS in 1991. He also received certification from the Israeli Chief Rabbinate in Issur V’Heter, Hilchos Shabbos and Hilchos Aveilus.
In addition to his duties as Rav, Rabbi Cohen has been an adjunct professor at Stern College since 1997, having three times been voted Professor of the Year by the students of Stern, and practices social work at the Refuah Health Center in Spring Valley, NY. Rabbi Cohen also serves on the Rabbinic board of Hatzalah of Passaic-Clifton, Passaic-Clifton Kashrus (PCK), and the Passaic-Clifton Eruv, and serves on the board of Jewish Family Services.
Rebbetzin Chanie Cohen grew up in Flatbush and attended Michlala Seminary and Stern College for Women. Rebbetzin Cohen is an active presence in the shul, organizing women’s education classes and family events. Together, the Rav and the Rebbetzin - and their growing family - are a dynamic team serving Tifereth Israel and the greater Passaic-Clifton community with passion and distinction.
